Calvin University Ham Club

We enjoy many facets of ham radio, but we primarily operate on HF Voice and Digital modes, and FM Satelites, with Linear Satelites coming soon! The launch of the student ham radio club was recently covered in the student newspaper, The Calvin Chimes.

We are a student club affiliated with Calvin University, with many members who are devoted Christians and followers of Jesus Christ. Psalm 111:1-3 is featured on our QRZ page because it reflects what is important to us—not only as followers of Christ, but also as students and amateur radio operators. At Calvin University, we enjoy exploring and studying the works of the Lord (including ham radio!) and seek to honor Him in all that we do.

Psalm 111:1-3

Praise the Lord!
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart,
in the company of the upright, in the congregation.
Great are the works of the Lord,
studied by all who delight in them.
Full of splendor and majesty is his work,
    and his righteousness endures forever.

The Heidelburg Catechism is a foundational document in the Christian Reformed Church in North America, which Calvin University is Affiliated with. The first Q & A from the Catechism is included here, which provides an overview of the most essential elements of the beliefs of Reformed Christians.

Lords Day 1 - Q&A 1

Q. What is your only comfort in life and in death?

A. That I am not my own,
but belong—
body and soul,
in life and in death—
to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ.

He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood,
and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil.
He also watches over me in such a way
that not a hair can fall from my head
without the will of my Father in heaven;
in fact, all things must work together for my salvation.

Because I belong to him,
Christ, by his Holy Spirit,
assures me of eternal life
and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready
from now on to live for him.
