Jacob Zuma
Jacob Zuma is destined to be the next president of South Africa. That is, assuming that corruption charges are dropped. On Monday 6 April 2009, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) will announce whether it will press or drop charges. The decision has been postponed several times. It is unclear what will happen if the NPA proceeds with the case.
Previously, Zuma was acquitted of rape charges. Zuma's assertion (in court during the rape trial) that taking a shower could reduce the risk of contracting AIDS has been derided by AIDS activists and the medical establishment. Political cartoonist Zapiro depicts Zuma with a showerhead above his bald pate so that nobody forgets.
