Big Board
Between matches, the players were free to roam around the grounds. Laerskool Stellenbosch has a gigantic outdoor chessboard which received heavy use. Mark and his friends (Julian is in the white shirt) played against some other kids. They developed a strategy based on division of labor. One teammate was the "brain" and the other was the "mover." At other times, different teammates were responsible for moving different pieces.
