Empty Dam
This dam was along our hiking route today. It usually supplies drinking water to the university and the community. It is nearly empty due to two factors: (a) end of the summer dry season and (b) the water bombing helicopters used it to fight the fires earlier this summer.
In South Africa, water is more important than holding it back. So, the word "dam" refers to the water behind the wall, not the wall that holds the water.
