We went to the Stellenbosch Toy and Miniature Museum today with Catherine, Mark, and Mark's friend Joshua. The Toy Museum is located in one of the historical buildings in the Stellenbsoch town center. The buildings belong to the town council and are managed by the historical society. The council is required (by law) to use the buildings as museums. The toy and miniature museum is one such museum in the center of the historic district.
Our guide today was Mr. Kleynhaans (not exactly sure of the spelling, who is a bit of a Stellenbosch historian. He lives in one of the historic buildings of the museum. The most poignant thing he said was, "Funny how things happen in life. A few years ago I was forbidden to walk in the street. Now I have a home in one of these buildings. ... My knowledge of the history of this place has served me well."
You can see several pictures from our visit below.
