High Winds
Unfortunately, the cable car wasn't running in the morning. High winds and poor visibility at the top were the cause. The wind was not bad at the lower cableway station, but the clouds were moving quickly over the mountain.
The photo shows a minor tablecloth on the mountain in the early morning. So, we hoped that conditions would improve throughout the day. (More on this topic later.)
