Housing Information

Housing is available in dormitory rooms on campus or at nearby hotels. If you wish to stay in the college dormitory, you can make your reservation when you submit the on-line registration form. If you prefer to stay in a hotel, you must make your reservation directly with the hotel.

Dormitory Housing. Comfortable, low cost rooms are available in the Schultze-Eldersveld Dormitory on the Calvin College campus. See the campus map for the location of Schultze-Eldersveld Hall.

The dormitory rooms are arranged in "suites." A suite consists of two bedrooms connected by a shared bathroom. Each bedroom is furnished with two single (bunk) beds and two desks. The following options are available:

  • Single, private bath. ($34.00 per night) One person occupying one bedroom in a suite; no one occupying the remainder of the suite.
  • Double, private bath. ($19.00 per person per night) Two persons occupying one room; no one occupying the other bedroom in the suite.
  • Single, shared bath. ($19.00 per night) One person in a bedroom sharing a bath with someone occupying the other bedroom in that suite.
  • Double, shared bath. ($13.00 per person per night) Two persons sharing one bedroom and sharing a bathroom with occupants of the other bedroom in the suite.
  • Family suite. ($41.00 per night) An entire suite.
You can reserve a dormitory room when you complete the on-line registration form. You may specify a roommate or a suitemate on the registration form. If you choose to share a room or a bath but do not specify a roommate or suitemate, one will be assigned.
Notes: (1) Dormitory rooms are not air conditioned. Air conditioning is normally not needed in Michigan in June, but it does occasionally get hot.
(2) No maid service is provided during the workshop.
(3) Alcohol is not permitted in the dorms.

Conference Hotel. A special conference rate is available at the Comfort Inn, 4155 28th Street SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49546. Phone: 616-957-2080. Conference Rate: $65.95 per room, single or double. Free continental breakfast. Free airport shuttle. Free transportation to campus. In-room coffee makers, iron/ironing board, hairdryers and safes, fitness center. Call the hotel directly to make a reservation. Mention the fact that you are attending the Workshop in Geometric Topology at Calvin College in order to receive the conference rate. Reservations must be made by May 22 in order to receive the conference rate.

Other Hotels. Click for a list of hotels located near to campus. Most of the hotels are located on 28th Street, between the airport and the campus; see the area map. The Residence Inn by Marriott is nearby and will give a special rate to Calvin College visitors. The Radisson Hotel Grand Rapids East, 3333 28th Street SE, 616-949-9222, is newly refurbished but not yet on the list of hotels above. It is close to campus. If you mention the fact that you are attending a conference at Calvin College they should give a special rate of approximately $70.00.
